Welcome to your companion website which will help you achieve mastery learning for this upcoming market structure module. We are excited to begin this paradigm shift from a time based learning progression into a competency/mastery based learning progression. Click on the Market Structure tab above to explore the first 2 parts. Mastery Learning is a mindset in which anyone can achieve if given enough time and support. It's based on a competency based progression instead of a time based progression. Each of you will be given an A3 size learning progress card at the start of the lesson as seen below. Once you think you have completed a task, approach the teacher for feedback. The teacher will then stamp/tick off the appropriate boxes. Once you have accumulated enough learning experience, you can then take the assessment. If you passed the assessment, you move on to the next stage. If you falter, we will work together to help you master the topic before moving on. Why Mastery Learning? In a class of 25 students, the teacher has to pitch his/her pace in the middle. This results in some people being bored by the pace and some people being overwhelmed by the pace. Mastery Learning aims to overturn this paradigm by returning the control of the pace to you, the person who understands what you need the most. That's the true nature of the word "Flipped". It's not about the videos replacing the teacher lecturing, it's about flipping the control and ownership of learning back to you. This website will contain the online textual and multimedia resources for your to learn at your own place. But you're not on your own, your tutor will still be around during class time to help you clarify questions, conduct mini-lectures to those who need it and see you after curriculum time to help you catch up if you haven't mastered a particular topic.
